It seems most people now have iPhones, and I was just reading a story about Telstra finally allowing internet tethering on their iPhone plans... at a price of course.
If you aren't familiar with 'Internet Tethering', it is a built-in feature that allows your iPhone to be used as an external modem with your laptop, via bluetooth or USB. Of course, the good old Aussie phone companies saw this as another way to make a few extra dollars per month from us, well except Vodafone, bless their corporate souls. This feature comes in handy when you are on the road, but depending on your service provider, I am not sure if it's worth paying the extra money for.
Going by what I have read on their websites, the rates for Telstra & Optus to unblock this feature are around $10 per month! Vodafone customers get this feature for free, as it already comes unblocked out of the box.
If you are interested in checking this out on your iPhone, to use it or see if it's unlocked, connect your iPhone to your laptop. Grab the phone and open the Settings app and then click > General > Network > Internet Tethering. From there you should be able to turn it on and start surfing.
Good Luck.
